Max Tankersley is the Gordie Center’s APPLE Training Institute & Student-Athlete Mentor Program Manager, working with both programs to foster well-being among student-athletes with a focus on substance misuse prevention and social support networks. Max graduated from UVA in 2023 with a B.A. in Psychology & Drama, studying group facilitation and directing Shakespeare. His primary research interest in both fields was investigating how to empower students to lead inclusive spaces that promote physical and emotional wellness through a Distinguished Majors Thesis in Psychology and multiple research grants from the Miller Arts Scholars program. Max credits Hoos Connected and Shakespeare on the Lawn as the hubs for that research and his home on on Grounds for the past four years, and he is excited to continue to work on promoting student wellness with the Gordie Center. Go Hoos!
