The Antonio Tsialas Leadership Foundation, a hazing prevention non-profit organization, was established to honor Antonio Tsialas, whose life, leadership, and compassion touched many during his short 18 years. Antonio died in 2019 after a "dirty rush" fraternity event that involved hazing and forced alcohol consumption at Cornell University. The mission of The Antonio Tsialas Leadership Foundation is to empower young adults to make safe and compassionate choices by raising hazing awareness and inspire them to lead their lives with empathy and inclusion. The Gordie Center is partnering with Antonio's Foundation to educate students and families about hazing, through support of their high school and college student Ambassador program. We also collaborated on a short animated video about the Signs of Healthy and Unhealthy Organizations.
Don't Stall, Just Call is an alcohol overdose education program for university, college, high school students and their families based in Pennsylvania. Don't Stall, Just Call is a program of the non-profit CTC Wellness Foundation, which was founded by the Ciammetti family after the alcohol overdose death of their son and brother, Christian, at Temple University in 2015.
Drug Free Sport International is a team of accessible, world-class experts in partnership with leading sport organizations around the world, providing unbiased and customized drug-testing programs and other drug prevention initiatives to ensure fair and safe sport.
Fraternity insurer Favor & Company's Fraternal Health and Safety Initiative (FHSI) is a consortium designed to aid chapters of participating fraternities and sororities in achieving this high-quality experience. Favor & Company offers three unique, research-based curriculums focused on the dangerous behaviors often exhibited by college students. The Gordie Center partners with FHSI to provide education to their fraternity chapter members.
Game Plan provides athletics organizations with an on-demand library of 100+ courses through their learning management system. The Gordie Center has partnered with Game Plan to develop modules on hazing, alcohol, and bystander intervention.
Hazing Prevention Network, formerly known as HazingPrevention.Org, is an international nonprofit dedicated to empowering people to prevent hazing. Our goal is to educate people about the dangers of hazing, advocate for change, and engage the community in strategies to prevent hazing.
The Higher Education Center provides colleges and universities the tools and resources to launch alcohol and drug misuse prevention and recovery programs on their campuses. The Gordie Center's Jill Maurer serves on the Higher Education Center's Training Advisory Committee.
The Lonely Dog is a 15-minute film inspired by Alasdair Russell's story and is intended to generate discussion about what constitutes hazing, why members feel so much pressure to participate, what makes it so difficult to challenge “tradition,” and how to take positive steps to make the new member process an authentic bonding experience. The Gordie Center collaborated with the Forever Forward Project (led by Alasdair's mother and producer of the film, Kathleen Sheridan Russell) to create a discussion guide for the film. The film and discussion guide are available free for schools, families, and communities to use in their hazing prevention efforts.
The Medical Amnesty Initiative provides policy and legislation advocacy for Medical Amnesty legislation. The Initiative tracks and lobbies for Medical Amnesty legislation to remove barriers for individuals to seek medical attention without the worry of getting in trouble.
myPlaybook is an evidence-based program designed to prevent alcohol and other drug related harm. This interactive, web-based program engages students using state-of-the-art instructional design. myPlaybook is divided into two separate programs: the collegiate program was created specifically for student-athletes, and the high school program is designed for all students but includes an extra component for those participating in athletics.
NovakTalks provides consulting and advocacy for student health and safety, hazing prevention, accountability, and student organization development. The annual Interdisciplinary Institute for Hazing Prevention is a NovakTalks program.
One Love educates young people about healthy and unhealthy relationships, empowering them to identify and avoid abuse and learn how to love better. One Love was founded in honor of Yeardley Love, a University of Virginia lacrosse player who was killed by her ex-boyfriend in 2010.
Prevent.Zone is a suite of courses by AliveTek, Inc. designed to educate students on current safety issues. AliveTek provides custom eLearning solutions to universities, schools and non-profit associations. The Gordie Center partners with Prevent.Zone on the hazing prevention module "HAZE: The Risks of Alcohol and Hazing."
The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility leads the fight to eliminate drunk driving and underage drinking and promotes responsible decision-making regarding alcohol. The Gordie Center's Susie Bruce serves on their Educational Advisory Board.
Step UP! Bystander Intervention Program is a prosocial behavior and bystander intervention program that educates students to be proactive in helping others.
SWIGSAFE™ founder Olivia Pivirotto attended Gordie's alma mater Deerfield Academy, and learned about the Gordie Center through the education that Deerfield provided about safer drinking practices and how to help an intoxicated friend. Olivia developed the SWIGSAFE™ Tumbler to empower individuals with a greater sense of control and safety during life's most festive events and experiences. The SWIGSAFE™ Tumbler has easy-to-read measurement icons representative of standard drink amounts, and helps guard against excessive drinking and drink tampering with a secure latched lid. Through our partnership with SWIGSAFE™, each SWIGSAFE™ Tumbler comes with a GORDIEcheck BAC card, and a portion of every SWIGSAFE™ purchase will be donated back to the Gordie Center when the code "GORDIE" is used in their online store.
The Timothy J. Piazza Center for Fraternity and Sorority Research is an interdisciplinary research center dedicated to creating sound professional practice in fraternity and sorority advising. Our vision is to create healthier, life-changing, and life-saving fraternities and sororities through research-informed practice. Research projects include the National Fraternity and Sorority Scorecard, Fraternity and Sorority Experience Survey, and other professional practice research studies. The Gordie Center is one of the founding partners of the WhatWorks Study and Community of Practice with the Piazza Center and the WITH US Center for Bystander Intervention.
UNCG Institute to Promote Athlete Health & Wellness supports health promotion for athletes of all ages and levels of competition. They work collaboratively with a variety of organizations to provide educational resources and support through evidence-based programming, training and research/evaluation.
WITH US Center for Bystander Intervention at Cal Poly San Louis Obispo is dedicated to empowering proactive bystanders to prevent harm and create safe campus communities where all students can thrive. The Gordie Center is an official Prevention Partner and member of WITH US's national network. One of WITH US's signature program is Aware Awake Alive, a national non-profit formed by the Starkey family after the alcohol overdose hazing death of their son and brother Carson in 2008. The Gordie Center is one of the founding partners of the WhatWorks Study and Community of Practice with the Piazza Center and the WITH US Center for Bystander Intervention.
